An Unexpected Giraffe Ride

One day Lulu was excited to go meet Sally. They were going to go to the zoo together with their parents. Lulu got ready and put on her backpack and her shoes. She got in the car with her mommy. And her mommy drove to the zoo. When they arrived and parked, Lulu got out and looked for Sally.

Sally had told Lulu that she would be wearing a green shirt, and Lulu was looking for that. Then Lulu saw Sally and her daddy standing behind some people. Lulu ran over and gave Sally a hug. Sally was glad to see Lulu. Their parents said hello to each other, and the four of them entered the zoo. Lulu and Sally thought about which animals to see first.

They wanted to see the lions. And they went over to the lion's area. The lions were very big. And outside the lion's area there was a display board. On the display board there was a picture of a lion's paw. Lulu put her hand on the picture, and saw that her hand was much smaller than the lion's paw. Sally suggested they draw the lion's paw in their notebooks.

They each brought their backpacks, and they had their notebooks with them. Lulu and Sally took out their pencils and notebooks, and put a page on the display. Then they traced the same size of the lion's paw from the display onto the paper. Then Lulu and Sally put their own hands on their drawings, and they traced around their hands. Now they could see how small their hands looked inside the drawing of the lion's paw.

They walked around the whole zoo. Then Lulu and Sally wanted to see the giraffes last. They walked with their parents over to the giraffe's area. Their parents went to get some water, while Lulu and Sally looked at the giraffes. The giraffes were very tall, and their heads were high up over the side of the fence. But there was a baby giraffe that was closer to the ground.

Lulu and Sally wanted to have a closer look. They walked right up to the fence, and were very close to the baby giraffe. Sally wanted to draw a picture of the baby giraffe, and she got out her notebook and pencil. But she dropped her pencil and it rolled under the fence next to the baby giraffe. Sally wanted to get her pencil back, and saw the gate to the fence was a few steps away.

Sally opened the gate and carefully stepped inside to get her pencil. But the gate swung shut behind Sally. Lulu walked up and opened the gate to let Sally out. Suddenly. two big giraffes picked up Sally and Lulu by biting their shirts. The first giraffe put Sally on the second one's head. And the second giraffe put Lulu on the first one's head.

Then both giraffes ran out the open gate. Lulu and Sally held on to the giraffes' heads, and the giraffes kept running out of the zoo. They ran very fast with their tall legs. The giraffes ran down the street and turned around a corner. Then the giraffes ran to the park, and stopped suddenly, which knocked Lulu and Sally off the giraffes' heads. Lulu and Sally landed in some trees.

The girls climbed down and reached the ground. The giraffes were eating some leaves on the trees. The girls needed to bring the giraffes back to the zoo. Then Lulu had an idea. She told Sally to come with her to a grocery store. They bought two apples. Then Lulu got two long sticks, and poked the apples to the end of each stick. She gave one stick to Sally.

Then Lulu and Sally climbed back up the trees, and jumped onto the giraffes' heads. They each held the stick with the apple on the end, in front of the giraffe. The giraffe wanted to eat the apple and started walking forward towards it. Lulu and Sally pointed the apples towards the zoo, and the giraffes walked back. The giraffes walked all the way to the zoo, and through the gate of the fence.

Lulu and Sally now let the giraffes eat the apples. Then they slid down the giraffe's necks and landed on the ground. They stepped back out of the gate, and shut it behind them. Then their parents came back with some water. Lulu and Sally took a drink as they were very thirsty. Their parents didn't see what happened to Lulu and Sally. The girls told their parents about the giraffes running away with the girls on the giraffes' heads.

Their parents were glad that the girls were able to come back with the giraffes. Now they were tired and ready to go home. Lulu and her mommy said goodbye to Sally and her daddy, and went home. When Lulu arrived at home she got ready for dinner. After dinner, she drew a picture of her and Sally sitting on top of the giraffes' heads. Then she brushed her teeth and laid down. She closed her eyes, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
