Buttons and puppets

One day Lulu was taking off her socks. And she noticed a hole near the toe of one of her socks. She decided to repair it by sewing it up. She went and got her sewing kit, and took out the needle and thread. Then she turned her sock inside out.

She put the thread through the needle, and she pinched the hole in the sock, so that it made a line. Then she took the needle and started on one end of the hole, and made a knot so that the thread stayed in place. Then she sewed back and forth across the line of the hole, until she reached the other end. Then she put a knot in it, with the needle and thread.

Now the hole was patched up, so she cut the thread off the hole in the sock that she fixed. Then she turned the sock back inside out the right way. And the hole was gone because it was fixed. Then Lulu saw that there were some buttons in her sewing kit. She decided to make a sock puppet out of her sock.

She took two buttons and put them side by side on the sock near the toes, and she sewed those two buttons onto the sock, to make it look like the sock puppet’s eyes. Then Lulu took another smaller button, and put that a little below the first two buttons, and positioned it in the middle, so that it was in the spot of the nose for the sock puppet.

And she sewed that button onto the sock. Next Lulu took some needle and thread, and below the button that was the nose, she sewed a curved line into the sock, so that it looked like a smile. Now Lulu had a sock puppet. She put the sock puppet on her hand, and was able to move it around and make it dance.

But then she thought she needed a background for the sock puppet. So she got a piece of cloth the size of a towel, and she sewed some designs onto it. in the top right corner she sewed a circle using yellow thread, to represent the sun. Then in the top middle, she used some white thread to sew some bubble shapes, which were representing clouds.

Next she used some green thread on the bottom of the towel from left to right, to sew some short lines that represented grass. Then she wanted some flowers, so on the left side of the cloth she used the green thread to sew some long lines to represent the flower stem, and she used some red thread to sew some flower petals on the top end of the long green thread lines.

Lastly, she wanted a tree, so on the right side of the cloth she used some brown thread to make very long tall lines to represent the trunk of the tree, and also some branches. Then Lulu used some green thread to sew some short lines from the brown thread, and that short green thread represented the leaves on the branches of the tree.

Now Lulu had a sock puppet, and a background cloth with a sun, some clouds, grass, a flower, and a tree. And she could make the sock puppet dance and sing in front of the cloth background. Lulu was proud of herself and her creative mind, plus her sewing skills.

Later she hung up her cloth background on the wall by her bed, and she put the sock puppet on her bed. Then she would have something new to look at when she went to sleep that night. Lulu got ready for bed. When she laid down, she dreamed about the sock puppet as she went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
