Making Applesauce

One day Lulu was reading a book at home. When she finished reading she heard the phone ring. It was her friend Jimmy and he invited her to come over for some lunch. Lulu said that would be nice. She got ready and put on her shoes. She walked over to Jimmy's place. Jimmy asked her to sit at the table, and he brought over two bowls of tomato soup. Lulu and Jimmy ate the soup. When they finished, they cleaned up the dishes. 

Then Lulu asked Jimmy if he wanted to go to the park. Jimmy said that sounded like a great idea. They left together and started walking to the park. Near the park was a tennis court. There were lots of tennis balls that had bounced out of the tennis court, all over the park. Lulu and Jimmy could see that there was nobody playing tennis today. But somebody had left one tennis racket at the tennis court. 

Jimmy and Lulu walked around and picked up a few of the tennis balls. Lulu wondered what they could do with the tennis balls. Then Jimmy said he had an idea of what to do with the tennis balls. There was an apple tree nearby and Jimmy said they could throw tennis balls at the apples to knock the apples down. Lulu agreed and both of them walked over to the apple tree. The apples were high up on the branches. 

Jimmy stood under the tree and told Lulu to throw some tennis balls at the apples. And he said he would catch the apples when they fell down. Lulu threw a tennis ball up at the branches and it missed the apples. Then she threw another tennis ball and missed again. She threw one more tennis ball and it didn't reach the apples in the tree. They were too high. 

Then Jimmy said he would try, and Lulu stood under the tree. But when Jimmy threw the tennis balls, he also missed. And none of the tennis balls Jimmy threw reached the apples in the tree. Then Lulu remembered that there was a tennis racket at the tennis court. She ran back and picked up the tennis racket and brought it back. Now Jimmy stood under the tree again, and Lulu used the tennis racket to throw the tennis ball up at the branches. 

This time the tennis balls knocked the apples out of the tree. Jimmy caught the apples. After a few minutes, Jimmy had a pile of apples. Then they decided to take the apples back to Jimmy's place and make something with it. Lulu put the apples in her backpack, and they walked to Jimmy's place. When they arrived at Jimmy's place, they went to the kitchen. They washed all the apples. 

Then Jimmy opened a drawer and took out a peeler. And they peeled all the apples one by one. Next Lulu cut all the apples in half and took out the seeds from the middle of the apple. Then Jimmy took out the blender and they put all the apple pieces into the blender. Jimmy put the lid on the blender and turned it on. After the blender was done, the apples had turned into applesauce. 

Jimmy poured the applesauce into two containers. And he gave one container to Lulu to take with her. Lulu thanked Jimmy and was ready to go home. She said goodbye and left. Lulu walked home and when she arrived, her parents said it was almost time for dinner. Lulu cleaned up and got ready for dinner. She told her parents that she and Jimmy had made some applesauce together. 

Lulu's parents said that was very nice, and that they could eat it after dinner. Lulu poured the applesauce into an ice cube tray, and put that in the freezer. Then the three of them sat down at the table and ate dinner together. After dinner, Lulu took the applesauce out of the freezer. It had frozen into small square pieces. Lulu and her parents enjoyed eating the frozen applesauce squares. 

Then Lulu helped clean up the dishes. Afterwards, Lulu drew a picture of her and Jimmy throwing tennis balls at the apple tree. And she put that drawing on the refrigerator. Now it was time for bed, and Lulu brushed her teeth. Then she laid down, closed her eyes, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
