The Colorful Rocks
Lulu was drawing a picture to give her friend Jimmy. He had done something nice for her, and now she wanted to do something nice for him. It was a drawing of Jimmy and his parents. Lulu wanted to make a nice frame for the drawing. She took a large square piece of cardboard, and she glued the drawing onto the cardboard.
Then she wanted to make the edges of the cardboard around the drawing look nice. She thought that she would glue some small rocks onto the cardboard edges at the top, bottom, left, and right. She put the cardboard with the drawing into her backpack, with some other things. Lulu took out her bicycle and got ready to go.
Then she rode to the park to look for some small rocks. She found a pile of small rocks near the pond. Lulu took out some glue from her backpack and glued the rocks onto the cardboard. Then she took out some coloring markers and colored the rocks different colors.
Near the top edge of the drawing, she colored the glued rocks blue. Near the bottom edge of the drawing she colored the glued rocks green. Near the left edge of the drawing she colored the glued rocks orange. Near the right edge of the drawing she colored the glued rocks yellow. Now she had a colorful frame on the cardboard, around the drawing. She also had a few extra colorful rocks leftover.
Now Lulu was ready to give the drawing to Jimmy. She put the drawing in her backpack and rode to Jimmy's home. When she arrived there she told Jimmy that she made something for him. She took out the drawing on the cardboard frame and showed it to Jimmy. He saw it and said that he liked it very much. He put it on the table and told Lulu that he had something new to show her.
He took her to the kitchen and there on the counter was a clear glass bowl. It was a fishbowl And in the fishbowl was a goldfish. Lulu gave Jimmy some extra rocks she had colored, to put in the fishbowl for the goldfish to swim around. Lulu asked Jimmy where he got the goldfish. Jimmy told her that he got it from the pet store nearby. Lulu thought that was great and she wanted to get one also.
She told Jimmy that she was going to go home and ask her parents to get one for her. Lulu rode her bicycle home and talked to her parents about getting a goldfish. They agreed and went to the pet store together. Lulu's parents bought a small goldfish. It came in a clear glass fishbowl, and they brought it home.
Lulu thought it would be nice to put some colorful rocks inside the bowl for the fish to swim around. Lulu had some leftover colorful rocks from the ones she glued onto the drawing for Jimmy. Lulu fed the goldfish every day for the next few weeks. Then one day Lulu noticed that the goldfish had become too big for the fishbowl.
She called Jimmy and asked him if his goldfish had grown. Jimmy answered yes, and said his goldfish was also too big for the fishbowl. Then Lulu had an idea and she told Jimmy to bring his goldfish and meet her at the park. Lulu carried her fishbowl to the park and saw Jimmy waiting there. She told him that she thought they could put the goldfish in the pond and visit them there every day.
Lulu said they should put the colorful rocks from their fishbowls into the pond, near the spot where they were standing. And that way the goldfish would know to come there every day. Jimmy agreed, and they put their goldfish into the pond. Then they put the colorful rocks into the pond near the edge of the spot where they were standing. The goldfish swam around the colorful rocks, then swam away.
Then Lulu and Jimmy left. The next day Lulu and Jimmy came back to the park to play at the playground. After they were finished playing, they went to the spot near the colorful rocks. They waited a while, and then the two goldfish swam over. Jimmy and Lulu were glad to see their goldfish. They fed the goldfish some fish food, and then were ready to leave.
Lulu said goodbye to Jimmy and went home. When she arrived at home, she got ready for dinner. After eating dinner with her parents, she helped clean up the dishes. Then Lulu read one of her books. When she was done reading, she brushed her teeth. Then she got in bed, closed her eyes, started to dream about the goldfish, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
