The Neighbor's Kitten

One afternoon Lulu was coming home with her parents. They entered their apartment building and walked to the elevator. Their neighbor was already standing there waiting for the elevator to arrive. Lulu and her parents said hello to the neighbor and waited for the elevator. When the elevator opened they all got inside. 

They went up to the same floor and got out of the elevator. The neighbor went to his door down the hallway, and Lulu with her parents went to their door. When they opened the door, Lulu heard a little bell jingling softly, but didn't know what it was. Then they went inside and shut the door. Lulu took off her shoes and went to the kitchen to have a glass of water. 

When she was in the kitchen she heard a bell jingling softly under the table. She looked under the table to see what was making the sound, but didn't see anything. Then the bell stopped. Lulu finished drinking some water, and put the class away. Then Lulu went to the bookshelf and took out a book to read. 

She heard a little bell jingling again and looked around, but didn't know what made the sound. Then she sat down on the sofa and opened her book. But when she sat down, she heard a small bell jingling softly from behind her. Lulu stood up from the sofa and looked behind it. But she didn't see anything, and the jingling bell sound stopped. 

Then Lulu sat down again and continued reading. After a while, there was a knock on the door. Lulu's parents opened the door and the neighbor from the elevator was outside. He said that when he came home a while ago, he thinks that his kitten might have run out of his apartment. 

He asked them if they had seen his kitten in the hallway when they were going into their apartment. Lulu's parents said they didn't see anything. Then Lulu asked the neighbor to describe the kitten. He said that it had brown and orange fur, and looked like a tiny tiger. 

And he also said that it had a collar with a tag which showed the kitten's name, Fluffy. And he told them there was a small bell on the collar. All of a sudden Lulu realized what the bell sound was that she had been hearing. She told her parents and neighbor that she had been hearing a little bell jingling softly, but didn't know what it was before. 

Now they all realized that maybe the kitten quietly ran into Lulu's apartment when she came home with her parents. The neighbor asked Lulu where she heard the small bell ringing. Lulu said she heard it in the kitchen at first. And they all went to the kitchen to take a look. But they didn't see the kitten there. 

Then Lulu said she also heard the bell jingling behind the sofa when she sat down to read. And they went to the sofa to take a look behind it, but the kitten wasn't behind the sofa. The neighbor said that his kitten liked to hide under things sometimes. They also looked under the sofa, but the kitten wasn't there. Then they heard a bell softly ringing, and it sounded like it was coming from the bedroom. 

They went to the bedroom to look there. Lulu looked under the bed, and at first she didn't see anything. Then in the corner by the wall, she saw two small dots shining. And that was the kitten's eyes. Lulu said that she saw the kitten by the wall under the bed. But they couldn't reach the kitten. They needed it to come out. 

But the kitten wasn't moving. Then Lulu had an idea. She asked the neighbor to go bring a piece of cat food. The neighbor went and got a piece of cat food and brought it back. Lulu tied it on the end of a string. Then she held the string and was moving the piece of cat food from side to side below the edge of the bed. 

The kitten saw the food on the string and started to crawl towards it. Lulu pulled the string away from the bed. Then the kitten came out from under the bed to try and chase the string with the cat food. That's when the neighbor was able to grab the kitten and pick it up. 

Now they could clearly hear the small bell on the kitten's collar jingling. The neighbor thanked Lulu for helping him find his kitten. Lulu said she was glad to help. Then the neighbor said goodbye and left. Lulu and her parents got ready for dinner. And after Lulu finished eating dinner, she helped wash the dishes. 

Then afterwards she drew a picture of the neighbor's kitten. And she went and taped the drawing on her neighbor's door for them to have. Then she came back and got ready for bed. She put on her pajamas. Then brushed her teeth. And she laid down, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
