Making a New Song

One day Lulu was at the playground. And she was running around with her friend Jimmy. While they were running and playing, Lulu saw some other kids skipping with their feet, while they were running. Lulu and Jimmy joined the other kids who were skipping as they ran. Lulu also heard some birds chirping around them. Then Lulu thought to make a song about skipping. 

She told Jimmy her idea, and he thought it was great. He said he would also help. Lulu thought of the first line and said, "this is a skipping song." Jimmy repeated the first line, and then he added, "and you can sing along." Lulu smiled and said that the word "along" rhymes with the word "song." Jimmy laughed and said that's great. Then Lulu and Jimmy saw that the swings were empty. 

And they went over to the swings. While they were swinging they kept making their skipping song. Lulu thought of the third line and said, "we like to skip all day." Jimmy repeated the third line, and then he added, "you can skip in any way." Lulu smiled again and said that the word "way" rhymes with the word "day." 

Jimmy laughed and said their song was clever so far. Then Lulu thought of the next line and said, "skipping on the left and right." Jimmy repeated that line and then he added, "we can skip until it is night." Lulu laughed and said that the word "right" rhymes with the word "night." Jimmy smiled and liked their song so far. 

Then Jimmy and Lulu decided to go to the slide and slide for a while. Lulu climbed up the steps, and went down the slide. At the bottom of the slide she thought of the next line. She said aloud, "if you need to go somewhere." Then Jimmy climbed up the steps, and he came down the slide. At the bottom of the slide Jimmy repeated that line. 

Then he added, "we can skip all the way there." Lulu smiled and said that the word "there" rhymes with the word "anywhere." Jimmy laughed and said that their song was getting better. Lulu thought of the next line and said, you can skip to go near or far." Jimmy repeated her line, and then he added, "we can skip wherever we are." Lulu smiled and said that the word "are" rhymes with the word "far." Jimmy laughed and said that is great. 

Lulu and Jimmy ran from the slide and went over to the monkey bars. When they reached the monkey bars, they climbed to the top. Then Lulu thought of the next line and she said, "you can also choose to run." Jimmy was thinking of what words to add next. Then he repeated Lulu's line and added, "for a different type of fun." Lulu smiled and said that the word "fun" rhymes with the word "run." Jimmy laughed and was glad Lulu liked it. 

Then Jimmy's mommy and Lulu's daddy said it was time to finish at the playground and go home. Lulu and Jimmy skipped over to the bench where their parents were sitting. And Lulu and Jimmy said that they made up with a song that they wanted to sing. Lulu's daddy and Jimmy's mommy said okay. Then Lulu and Jimmy sang aloud" 

"This is a skipping song, And you can sing along, We like to skip all day, You can skip in any way, Skipping on the left and right, We can skip until the night, If you need to go somewhere, We can skip all the way there, You can skip to go near or far, We can skip wherever we are You can also choose to run, For a different type of fun."

Jimmy's mommy and Lulu's daddy clapped their hands and said it was a very nice song. Then Lulu said goodbye to Jimmy and she left with her daddy. When Lulu arrived at home, she got ready for dinner. After she finished eating dinner, Lulu went and wrote her song in her notebook. After that her mommy came to say goodnight. And Lulu told her mommy about the song. 

But Lulu wanted one more part to finish the song. Lulu said, "if we don't want the skipping to end." Lulu's mommy repeated that line and added, "we can skip in a dream and pretend." Lulu laughed and said that the word "pretend" rhymes with the word "end." Now Lulu and her mommy sang the whole song together. 

"This is a skipping song, And you can sing along, We like to skip all day, You can skip in any way, Skipping on the left and right, We can skip until the night, If you need to go anywhere, We can skip all the way there, You can skip to go near or far, We can skip wherever we are, You can also choose to run, For a different type of fun, If we don't want the skipping to end, We can skip in a dream and pretend."

And Lulu liked how the song finished very much. Lulu wrote the part she and her mommy made, in her notebook. Then she went to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. After she brushed her teeth, she laid down. Lulu closed her eyes, and started dreaming about skipping, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
