Lulu and the New Game

One day Lulu was with her parents. They were walking by a street fair. A few blocks of the road had been closed down. And no cars could drive there today. Instead, people could walk across the road safely. And on both sides of the road there were lots of tables set up, with people selling different things. Some were selling arts and crafts. Some were selling clothes. And some were selling food.

There were even some tables that were playing games which people who were walking by could play to win some prizes. Lulu thought some of these games were clever. And she decided she would make some when she got home. After walking around for a while, Lulu and her parents were ready to leave. They went home, and when Lulu arrived she started to make one of the amusement games.

One was a balloon pop. She took a piece of wooden board, and ten balloons. She also got out ten small pieces of paper. And she wrote down the number one through ten on each paper. Then she folded the papers and put a folder paper with a number written on it in each balloon. These would be for the prizes people could win. Lulu inflated all the balloons, and she taped those to the wooden board.

She also got ten small paper bags and put little prizes in each bag. Then she took that to the playground. When she got to the playground, she set up her game. She leaned the wooden board against a tree. The balloons on the wooden board were facing out. Then she got a sharp rock to throw at the balloons.

Lulu also put up a sign that said, "play a game and win a prize." Ten kids gathered around and asked Lulu how to play the game. Lulu said that each kid would get three turns to throw the sharp rock at the balloons to try and pop them. Whichever balloon popped had a number written inside. And there was a paper bag with that number, that had a prize in it.

The first kid was a girl, and she walked up to play and picked up the sharp rock. The girl threw it at the board of balloons, and the rock bounced off a balloon. She threw it again and the rock hit the board and missed the balloon. Then She threw the sharp rock a third time and it hit a balloon which popped.

Everybody clapped their hands and cheered. She looked in the balloon and there was the number seven written inside. Lulu picked up the paper bag that had number seven written on it and gave that to the girl. She opened the paper bag and saw his prize. It was a pencil. She thanked Lulu and ran back to the playground.

Then the next kid was a boy and he picked up the sharp rock to throw at the wooden board. The rock missed the board and landed on the ground behind it. He picked up the rock and tried again. This time the rock hit the top of the wooden board, which made the board tip forward and fall down. When the board hit the ground, all the balloons popped. The boy and the other kids laughed.

And Lulu said that everybody gets a prize now. She handed out the paper bags, and the kids looked inside the bags. Each prize was a pencil. The kids wanted to use the pencils, but nobody had a notebook there. Then Lulu pointed out the paper bags and said that they could draw on those.

The kids all agreed and each took a paper bag. They tore a square piece off the paper bag and drew on it. Then they all gave Lulu their drawings. Lulu thanked them and said that she would put those in her notebook at home. Then Lulu picked up the wooden board and said goodbye to everybody.

She took the drawings and the wooden board home. When Lulu arrived at home she took out her notebook. She glued each of the drawings the kids at the park drew for her, into a different page in her notebook. Now she had ten pages with glued drawings inside. Lulu was pleased with the prize she got, which she wasn't expecting.

Then Lulu got ready for dinner with her parents. She showed them the notebook with the drawings inside and they said it was very nice. Then after dinner, Lulu helped clear the table and wash the dishes. Then she read one of her books. After that she got ready for bed, and put on her pajamas. Then she brushed her teeth. Finally, she laid down and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
