Lulu and the Paddle Boat

One afternoon Lulu went out for a walk. While she was on her walk, she saw a poster hanging on a wall near the park. It said that there were paddle boats to use at the lake. Lulu wanted to try using the small boats. She also decided she should invite her friend Sally.

Lulu went to Sally's home and told Sally about the poster for the rowboats. Sally thought it was a good idea, and she got ready to go with Lulu. The two of them went to the lake and saw that near one side there were some paddle boats. And there was a line of people who were waiting to use the paddle boats.

Lulu and Sally went and stood in the line to wait their turn. When it was their turn they stepped forward. The boat worker told them how to sit in the boat and how to hold the paddles. Lulu sat in the back of the small boat, and Sally sat in the front of the small boat. It was just big enough to hold the two of them.

They also wore life jackets to help them float, just in case they fell in the water. They started paddling forward, and moved away from the edge of the lake. There was a small island on the lake nearby, and they paddled towards it. When they got to the small island, they got out of the boat to explore around.

They saw some animals moving around. These animals were beavers who were building a nest for themselves, using sticks and pieces of wood from trees. Beavers have strong teeth that helps them bite into the wood on trees. Then Lulu and Sally got back in the paddle boat and began to paddle to the side of the lake where they started.

All of a sudden there was a loud sound, and the girls looked up. There was a plane flying very low overhead, and it surprised Lulu and Sally. But when they looked up to see what made the noise, they dropped their paddles in the water, and the paddles floated away.

Now they couldn't go back. Then Lulu saw some fish in the water, and asked them to push the boat. The fish helped by pushing the boat through the water to the small island. Then Lulu and Sally asked the beavers for some help. And the beavers went to a tree and bit some wood into the shape of two paddles.

Now Lulu and Sally could use the wooden paddles the beavers made, to paddle the boat through the water again. Lulu and Sally paddled the boat away from the island. As they paddled back, they found the two paddles that they dropped, floating in the water. They picked up those paddles and put them in the boat.

Then they paddled the boat back to the side of the lake where other people were waiting to go next. Lulu and Sally told the boat worker that they dropped the paddes, and had extra paddles made by the beavers on the island, and then they found the first paddes.

The boat worker told Lulu and Sally that they could keep the wooden paddles. Lulu and Sally took the wooden paddles which the beavers made back home with them. Sally thought it was a nice way to remember the day. Lulu agreed and said goodbye to Sally and went inside.

After Lulu arrived at home, she put the paddle under the bed, so she could dream about her adventure with Sally that day. Then Lulu ate some dinner. After dinner was finished, Lulu got ready for bed. She brushed her teeth, and read a story. Then she laid down and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
