Lulu and the Ladder

One day Lulu was outside riding her scooter. Lulu rode her scooter near the fire department. And she saw them practicing how to use the ladder on the fire truck. The fire truck was outside the fire department building. And then the fire fighters raised the ladder on the fire truck.

The ladder started to unfold and move upward to the top of the fire department building. Then Lulu saw the fire fighters climb up the ladder to the roof of the fire department building. Then Lulu then the fire fighters climbed back down the ladder and reached the ground again. Suddenly the fire alarm sounded, and Lulu watched the fire fighters all get into the fire truck.

Then they turned on the fire truck’s lights and sirens. And the fire truck started to drive away. Lulu decided to safely follow them and see where they went. She rode her scooter on the sidewalk, and watched as the fire truck turned right and drove down the road. Lulu followed it, and found it parked next to a building.

There was smoke coming out of a window. The fire fighters took out a big hose, and connected it to a fire hydrant. Then they turned on the water from the fire hydrant. The fire fighters raised the ladder on the fire truck until it reached the window with smoke coming out of it. Then some of the fire fighters started to climb up the ladder, carrying the fire hose with them.

When they reached the window, they pointed the fire hose inside. The water came through the fire hose and put out the fire. Somebody had left the stove on and forgot about it, and that burned the stove and oven. The fire fighters responded quickly and were able to put out the fire with the ladder and the hose. Then the fire fighters came down from the ladder. They packed up the hose, and folded the ladder back down on the fire truck.

Afterwards the fire truck drove away and went back to the fire department. Lulu wanted to make a toy ladder at home, so she rode her scooter back. When Lulu got home, she went to the kitchen and got out some chopsticks. She also got out some packing tape. She used the tape to attach the chopsticks to each other.

She took a few chopsticks, and taped the tops and bottoms of the chopsticks, to make one long stick. Then she did it again so she had two long sticks. Next she took another chopstick and put it across the two long sticks she had made. And then she taped that chopstick into place. Now it looked like a letter H.

She a taped a few more chopsticks, one above another, between the two long sticks she made. After a few minutes, Lulu had a chopstick ladder. She put the chopstick ladder near her bed. Now she pretended that her stuffed toy zebra could climb up the chopstick ladder, from the floor to the bed.

Lulu also wanted her stuffed toy zebra to look like a fire fighter. So she got some red cloth, and she cut the shape of a small vest. Then she put the small red vest on her stuffed toy zebra. The stuffed toy zebra didn’t have a hose, so Lulu put a glass of water next to the stuffed toy zebra. Then Lulu’s parents told her it was time for dinner.

Lulu brought the chopstick ladder and the stuffed toy zebra wearing the red vest, to show them. Lulu’s parent’s smiled when they saw the chopstick ladder. It was very clever. After dinner Lulu put the chopstick ladder by the bed. Then she brushed her teeth and laid down. And she went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
