Sharks Stuck in Fishing Nets

One evening Lulu was reading about scuba divers. Those are people who swim underwater for a long time, and they breathe from tanks of air which they carry on their back. They also wear goggles on their eyes and nose. Lulu imagined what it would be like if she could swim underwater for a long time. Lulu read a story about a scuba diver who became friends with some sharks.

Every day the scuba diver would go and swim with the sharks, and the sharks would show the scuba diver different parts of the ocean. Then one day the scuba diver went swimming deep underwater in the ocean, but didn’t see the sharks. And the scuba diver’s air tank was going to become empty of air, so the scuba diver went back up, out of the water and onto land.

The next day the scuba diver looked for the sharks again. After a while the scuba diver saw one shark far away. The scuba diver was swimming over to the shark. Then when the shark was nearby, the scuba diver could see that it looked sad. The scuba diver took a closer look at the shark and saw why. There was a big hook stuck in the shark’s mouth.

The scuba diver could not talk under water, but using his arms to make some signals, he let the shark know that he would take out the big hook. The shark swam closer to the scuba diver. And the scuba diver carefully removed the hook from the shark’s mouth. The scuba diver took the big hook out of the water and threw it away in a garbage can on land.

Then the scuba diver went back underwater and wanted the shark to show him where it had gotten stuck with the hook. The shark started to swim away and the scuba diver swam behind it. The shark kept looking back to make sure the scuba diver was still following it. After a while, the shark showed the scuba diver a place at the bottom of the ocean where there was an old large fishing net with some hooks around it.

The other sharks had gotten stuck in the old large fishing net. That’s why the scuba diver had not seen them the day before. The scuba diver had a knife with him. Using the knife very carefully, the scuba diver cut the large fishing net. Now the sharks could get out of the net and they could swim freely again.

The scuba diver collected all of the old fishing net, and swam back up to land to throw the net away. The next day when the scuba diver went back into the ocean underwater, the sharks were happily swimming around. The scuba diver was glad that the first shark showed him where the other sharks had gotten stuck.

When Lulu finished reading the story she decided to draw a picture. She drew a picture of the scuba diver swimming with a lot of sharks, and the scuba diver was holding his hands with two thumbs up. Lulu put the picture she drew on the refrigerator. Then she got ready for bed, and brushed her teeth. When she finished brushing her teeth, she laid down, closed her eyes, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
