Lulu Makes a Macaroni Necklace

One afternoon Lulu was at the grocery store with her mommy. When they put everything in the shopping cart, they were ready to checkout. They went to the cashier. There was a new woman working there who they had not seen before. Lulu said hello to the woman, and the woman said hello to Lulu.

Then Lulu’s mommy noticed that the cashier was wearing a necklace. It was a very nice necklace with shells that was all around it. Lulu’s mommy liked how it looked. Then Lulu’s mommy was finished buying the groceries, and it was time to go. When they got home, Lulu decided to make a necklace for her mommy.

Lulu got out some thread and measured the length to go around her neck. Then she was thinking about what to put on the necklace. Suddenly she had a great idea. She would put macaroni on the thread to make a macaroni necklace. Of course it would be uncooked macaroni, otherwise it would break and fall apart.

Lulu got out the box of macaroni from the kitchen. Then she counted the macaroni pieces. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty. There were twenty pieces of macaroni.

Lulu put the macaroni pieces on the thread, one by one. When all twenty pieces were on the thread, Lulu tied the ends of the thread together. But she wasn’t finished. Lulu wanted the macaroni necklace to be colorful. And Lulu chose four color markers to use. Green, purple, blue, and red. She thought about whether she wanted the different colors to be next to each other, or to be grouped in bunches. She decided she would color five macaroni pieces the same color in groups.

Lulu colored the first group of five macaroni pieces green. Then she colored the second group of five macaroni pieces purple. Next, Lulu colored another group of five macaroni pieces blue. Finally, she colored the last group of five macaroni pieces red. Now she had a macaroni necklace that had four different colors in four groups.

Lulu wanted to make a second necklace, and this time she colored it differently. For the second necklace, Lulu made each macaroni piece a different color than the one next to it. She used another twenty macaroni pieces. And on the second necklace, she had green, purple, blue, red, green, purple, blue, red, green, purple, blue red, repeating one by one, until all twenty macaroni pieces were done.

Now Lulu had two necklaces that she had made using macaroni. She brought them to her mommy and said she made these for them to wear. Her mommy chose one, and put it on. Lulu put the other one one herself. Her mommy said it was very nice of her to make the necklace. Then it was time for dinner. And Lulu’s mommy made macaroni and cheese. 

And Lulu laughed at eating that while wearing her macaroni necklace. After dinner Lulu picked a book from the bookshelf to read. She read for a while and then she was ready to go to bed. She brushed her teeth, and took off her macaroni necklace. Then she laid down, closed her eyes, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
