Squirrel meets mouse
One day there was a mouse running through the forest. The mouse was running very fast, and while it was running, it heard somebody say hello. So the mouse stopped and saw a squirrel standing a little distance behind him. So the mouse ran to the squirrel and the mouse said hello to the squirrel.
The squirrel said to the mouse, “I haven’t seen you here before, are you new?” The mouse said “oh I don’t live here, I’m just running by.” The squirrel said he lived in a tree nearby and asked the mouse if he wanted to come over for some tea. The mouse was thirsty and said yes.
Then the squirrel led the mouse to a big tree nearby. When they got to the tree, there was a small door at the bottom of the tree. The squirrel opened the door and they went inside. There were some long stairs inside that went all the way up to the top of the tree.
And at different levels, there were doors that opened out to the branches of the tree. The squirrel brought the mouse to the small kitchen inside the tree, and boiled some water. Then the squirrel poured some water into cups for him and the mouse. But when the squirrel looked for some tea bags, he saw that the box of tea was empty.
The mouse said he had a solution. The mouse told the squirrel that he can run very fast. And that he can run to the store and get some more tea and bring it back, before the hot water cooled down. The squirrel said that’s a good idea. Then the mouse ran down the stairs inside the tree, and ran very very fast to the store, and bought some tea.
Then the mouse ran very fast back to the tree where the squirrel lived. The squirrel put the tea in the cups of hot water, and thanked the mouse. The squirrel asked the mouse if he wanted some toast. And the mouse said yes. Then the squirrel went to the cupboard to get some bread, but saw that there was only one slice of bread in the bag.
The mouse said he had a solution. The mouse told the squirrel that he can run very fast to the store and bring back some more bread, before the tea cools down. The squirrel again said that’s a good idea. Then the mouse ran down the stairs inside the tree, and ran very fast to the store, and bought some bread. Then the mouse ran very fast back to the tree where the squirrel lived.
The squirrel put the bread in the toaster, and heated the bread until it was done. Then the squirrel and the mouse both ate a slice of toast and drank their tea. When they were finished, the mouse was ready to go, and the squirrel walked with the mouse down the stairs inside the tree, all the way to the ground.
The squirrel wanted to thank the mouse for running and getting the tea and bread from the store. The squirrel gave the mouse a drawing of the tree where he lived, as a gift to the mouse. The mouse said thank you and ran very fast all the way home, and hung up the drawing of the tree on his kitchen wall.
Now when the mouse would have tea and toast, he would look at the drawing of the tree and remember his new friend the squirrel. Then the mouse was tired from running so much all day, and he went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
