Piggie and the leaf collection

One day piggie was going on a walk in the neighborhood, when piggie noticed some nice leaves on some bushes. So piggie decided to start a leaf collection. First, piggie went back home to get a small notebook to keep all the leaves in.

Then piggie went back outside and started looking for different shaped leaves from the different bushes and trees in the neighborhood. The first bush piggie saw had small leaves, and piggie put a small leaf in the notebook.

The second bush piggie saw had big leaves, and piggie put a big leaf in the notebook. The third bush piggie saw had medium leaves, and piggie put a medium leaf in the notebook.

Piggie kept walking and then saw a tall tree with nice leaves on it, but piggie couldn’t reach up high enough to get one. So piggie asked a nice person walking by if they could reach up high and pull off a leaf for piggie’s leaf collection. The person smiled and helped pick a leaf off the tree and gave it to piggie.

Then piggie was so happy because the leaf from the tree looked so different, as it was long and thin. And the other leaves from the bushes were mostly round. So piggie was glad to have a different shaped leaf. Then piggie decided to go back home and stick each leaf onto a different page in the notebook.

After getting home, piggie got out some stationery tape, and a pencil to write down what each leaf was. So piggie put the first leaf on the first page, and taped it into place, and wrote down “small leaf.” Then piggie put the second leaf on the second page, and taped it into place and wrote down “big leaf.”

Then piggie put the third leaf on the third page, and taped it into place and wrote down “medium leaf.” Then piggie put the fourth leaf on the fourth page, and taped it into place and wrote down “tree leaf.”

Now piggie had the beginnings of a nice leaf collection. Next, piggie got a blank sheet of paper and taped it to the front cover of the notebook, and drew some leaves on that.

Then piggie wrote at the top of the sheet of paper, above the drawn leaves, “my leaf collection.” Then piggie put the notebook away and was very tired from all the hard work. Piggie got ready for bed, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.

(my niece likes collecting leaves on walks, and inspired this story)
