Lulu And The Tools
One day Lulu was reading about how builders use tools to make things. And Lulu wanted to build something with some tools. But Lulu didn't know what. Then Lulu decided to go to the park. She got ready and took out her bicycle. Then Lulu rode her bicycle to the park. When she arrived at the park, Lulu went to play on the playground. While she was there, she saw her friend Sally.
Lulu and Sally played on the playground for a while. Then Lulu told Sally about the book she read earlier. And about wanting to use some tools. Sally told Lulu that her mom was going to build a bookshelf today. Lulu said it would be great to try and help. Sally thought that would be nice, and said that they could go to her place. Lulu and Sally both got on their bicycles and rode to Sally's home.
When they arrived there, they told Sally's mom that they wanted to help build the bookshelf. Sally's mom said that would be alright. Sally mom said that she needed to go to the hardware store and get some materials. Sally and Lulu wanted to come along. They both got into the car with Sally's mom, who drove to the hardware store.
In the parking lot Lulu saw lots of people walking out with many tools. And Lulu was excited. They went into the store, and Sally's mom walked to the wood section. She needed different sizes of wooden boards to make the bookshelf. She needed two long flat pieces to be the sides of the bookshelf. And she needed two short pieces to be the top and bottom of the bookshelf.
And also three short pieces to be the shelves inside the bookshelf. And lastly she needed a large flat piece to be the back cover of the bookshelf. Sally's mom also needed a hammer and some nails. That's what Lulu was most excited about. When Sally's mom put all the different parts that she needed into the shopping cart, they went to the checkout. Then they brought everything out to the car.
Sally's mom put the wooden boards and the hammer and nails in the back of the car. Then they sat in the car and Sally's mom started to drive back home. When they arrived at Sally's home, they brought the wooden boards and tools inside. Then Sally's mom held the wooden boards in place, while Sally held the nails, and Lulu used the hammer. After hammering all the wooden boards together, they had built the bookshelf.
Then they painted the bookshelf. After painting it, they set it aside to dry. There were some leftover nails, and Lulu asked if she could borrow the hammer and have the nails. Sally's mom said yes. Then Lulu and Sally went back to the park. When they got there, they saw that none of the other kids were playing on the slide. Lulu and Sally walked over to the slide to find out why.
And then they could see that one of the steps going up to the slide was broken. Lulu had an idea. She told Sally that they could use the hammer and nails to fix the broken step. Sally thought that was a great idea. Lulu opened her backpack and took out the hammer. Sally held a nail to the broken step, and Lulu began to hammer the nail in.
When she was done, the step was fixed. The other kids cheered happily and thanked Lulu and Sally. Then it was time to leave, and Lulu said goodbye to Sally. Lulu rode her bicycle home, and Sally went back to her own place. When Lulu arrived at home she got ready for dinner.
While she was eating dinner, she told her parents about building the shelf. And also about helping to fix the broken step of the slide at the playground. Lulu's parents were proud of her. After dinner Lulu helped wash the dishes. Then Lulu read a book for a while. When she finished reading, she brushed her teeth. Then Lulu laid down, closed her eyes, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
