Lulu and her pretend horse

One day Lulu was reading about different animals. She read about horses, and that sometimes people can ride on a horse that has been trained. Lulu wanted to ride on a horse, but there were no horses nearby. Lulu thought of what else she could do.

Then Lulu had an idea, and she wanted Sally’s help. Lulu got out her bicycle and rode it to her friend Sally’s home. When she got there, Lulu told Sally that her idea was to decorate their bicycles like horses and then to ride around town to see what people would think. Sally laughed and said she liked the idea.

They got some big cardboard pieces, and they cut it into the shape of a horse. Then they made two pieces of the cardboard horse shape. And they put one piece on each side of Lulu’s bicycle, and tied that together. Now when Lulu sat on her bicycle, it looked like she was sitting on a small horse.

Then they made two more pieces of the cardboard shape, and they put one piece on each side of Sally’s bicycle, and tied that together. Now when Sally sat on her bicycle, it looked like she was sitting on a small horse just like Lulu. Then Lulu and Sally took their pretend horses on their bicycles, and rode outside.

While they were riding their horse bicycles outside, Lulu and Sally saw a sign that said there was a horse race nearby, and they decided they would go to it. Lulu and Sally also wanted to feed the real horses, and they brought some apples with them in their backpacks.

When they got to the horse race, Lulu and Sally got ready at the beginning of the race. Then they heard the countdown, “3–2–1-go.” Lulu and Sally started pedaling their bicycles very fast, but the ground was bumpy, and the apples they brought with them started to fall out of their backpacks and on the ground.

The horses around them in the horse race saw the apples. And those horses strooped racing and ran over to eat the apples. That allowed Lulu and Sally to keep riding their horse decorated bicycles all the way to the end of the race, and they won.

But the reason they won is because the other horses stopped running to eat the apples that had fallen on the ground. And the prize for winning the horse race was a big bag of apples. Lulu and Sally were given the big bag of apples, but it was too big for them to carry. There weren’t sure what to do with it.

Lulu and Sally knew they weren’t riding real horses, and they decided they couldn’t keep the prize. They gave the prize bag of apples back to the horse race organizers. The race organizers thanked Lulu and Sally, and started another horse race. Lulu and Sally smiled and rode their horse-bicycles away.

It was time to go home, and Sally said goodbye to Lulu and left. Then Lulu also went home, on her horse-designed bicycle. When Lulu arrived at home, she put her bicycle away. Then she got ready for dinner. After dinner Lulu helped clean up. Then she drew a picture of herself and Sally riding their horse-bicycles. Now Lulu was ready for bed, and she brushed her teeth. Then she laid down, closed her eyes, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
