Drawing pictures of words
One evening, Lulu decided to make a chart of the English alphabet, with words for each letter, and then to draw a picture of each word. Since there’s twenty-six letters in the alphabet, there would need to be twenty-six words, each one beginning with a different letter of the alphabet.
Lulu began with the letter A and wrote down the word Apple, and then drew a picture of a child eating an apple. For the letter B, she wrote down the word Ball, and then drew a picture of a child playing with a ball. For the letter C, she wrote down the word Car, and drew a picture of a child sitting inside a car. For the letter D, she wrote down the word Dog, and drew a picture of a child taking a dog for a walk.
For the letter E, she wrote down the word Egg, and drew a picture of a child eating an egg. For the letter F, she wrote down the word Flower, and drew a picture of a child smelling a flower. For the letter G, she wrote down the word Grapes, and drew a picture of a child eating some grapes. For the letter H, she wrote down the word Honey, and drew a picture of a child putting some honey on bread.
For the letter I, she wrote down the word Ice, and drew a picture of a child putting some ice cubes in a glass. For the letter J, she wrote down the word Jar, and drew a child opening a jar of peanut butter. For the letter K, she wrote down the word Kiwi, and drew a picture of a child eating a kiwi fruit. For the letter L, she wrote down the word Leaf, and drew a picture of a child holding a leaf.
For the letter M, she wrote down the word Mango, and drew a picture of a child eating a mango. For the letter N, she wrote down the word Noodles, and drew a picture of a child eating noodles. For the letter O, she wrote down the word Orange, and drew a picture of a child eating an orange. For the letter P, she wrote down the word Pencil, and drew a picture of a child using a pencil.
For the letter Q, she wrote down the word Quilt, and drew a picture of a child laying down under a quilt. For the letter R, she wrote down the word Rice, and drew a child eating a bowl of rice. For the letter S, she wrote down the word Sock and drew a picture of a child putting on some socks. For the letter T, she wrote down the word Teeth, and drew a picture of a child brushing her teeth.
For the letter U, she wrote down the word Umbrella, and drew a picture of a child holding an umbrella in the rain. For the letter V, she wrote down the word Vest, and drew a picture of a child buttoning up a vest. For the letter W, she wrote down the word Whale, and drew a picture of a whale swimming in the ocean. For the letter X, she wrote down the word Xray, and drew a picture of a child getting her xray taken at a hospital.
For the letter Y, she wrote down the word Yogurt, and drew a picture of a child eating some yogurt. For the letter Z, she wrote down the word Zipper, and drew a picture of a child zipping up their jacket. Lulu had written twenty-six words for all the letters in the English alphabet, and drawn a different picture to go with each word.
Now she had a nice alphabet word chart, and felt very proud of her work. After working so hard, Lulu was ready to go to bed, and then went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
